Me voilà bien de retour, mon avion ne s’est pas écrasé ( il a juste rebondi à l’atterrissage par contre, héhé, j’en rigole, mais sur le moment je faisais ma prière mama mia), valises bien remplies et pas perdues (Hantise numéro 2 après le crash) … Je vous avais promis un petit compte rendu bons plans en tout genre, anecdotes etc … mais je ne suis pas très douée pour tout bien classer, tout retenir, me souvenir de tout, les bonnes adresses etc … Ça sera fouillis, mais c’est l’intention qui compte n’est ce pas ?
Well, I’m back and the plane didn’t crash (it just bounced once on the ground when landing. Now, I have a good laugh about it but at this moment I said a little prayer mama mia). My suitcases crammed with stuff were not lost (my 2nd worry after the crash). I promised you a short review on all kinds of good bargains, some anecdotes and so on … But I won’t be able to classify, to retain, to remember all, the best addresses and so on … It will be a muddle of notes, but it’s the thought that counts !
Commençons par le commencement : La conduite : Location d’une voiture automatique oblige j’ai mis 20 bonnes minutes à comprendre qu’ il ne faut conduire qu’avec le pied droit seulement. Après avoir pesté une bonne journée contre les automatiques, j’ai du rendre les armes: c’est tellement plus intuitif, plus simple, plus … mieux, sans parler des reposes gobelets géants, conduire un donut à la main et un soda dans l’autre c’est possiiible, God bless America … Bon sinon les Américains, je m’adresse à vous, : Vos carrefours à 4 Stop, qui passe en premier? Je me suis fait klaxonner un bon nombre de fois, parfois car je ne démarrais pas, parfois car j’étais au milieu du carrefour avec 3 voitures me fonçant dessus de chaque coté ? A part ça, la conduite est bien plus cool qu’en France, les places de parking font le triple d’ici ( Je vous gare un Hummer avec une main là bas).
Let’s begin at the beginning : driving a car : renting a automatic car, it took me 20 minutes to understand that I had to drive using only my right foot. Having moan about automatic cars a whole day, I had to face the facts ; it’s much more intuitive, more simple; more … better. Not to mention the very big plastic cup holder. Driving a car with a donut in one hand and a soda in the other hand, yes I caaan, God bless America … All right, otherwise the Americans, I would like you to explain to me something : your crossroads with 4 stop signs, which car starts first ? Drivers hooted at me lots of time because sometimes I didn’t move off or because I was right in the middle of the crossroads with 3 cars driving straight at me and coming from 3 directions ! Apart from that, driving is much more cool than in France, the parking lot places are 3 times bigger than here ( I could park a Hummer just with one hand there)..
Maintenant que vous savez conduire comme Homer Simpson, rendons nous à l’essentiel : where to shop! A première vue, miami c’est beaucoup de mauvais goût, le premier jour, j’étais pessimiste, mais tss tss ne nous laissons pas avoir par les apparences, Miami rocks, et on y trouve de tout : Il y a d’abord Collins Avenue avec une tripoté de magasins : Urban Outfitters, Aldo, la boutique KidRobot, Sephora ( Avec des produits qui n’existent pas en France, comme les vernis Opi By sephora) et plein d’autres… Il y a aussi Lincoln Road avec encore tout une tripoté de magasins : Le fameux BEBE, Anthropologie, FCUK, l’apple Store ( pour choper le wifi gratos … et les accessoires d’iPhone ou de Macbook bien moins chers qu’en france ), Victoria’s secret, Christian Audigier, Steve Madden, Base (Un peu le colette Local ) Ed hardy , Alchemist et pleins de petites boutiques sympa dont je n’ai pas retenu le nom …
Now that you are able to drive like Homer Simpson, let’s go to the main things : where to shop. At first sight, the first day, I thought that Miami didn’t has good taste, I really was resigned to it, but not at all, don’t rely on appearances, Miami rocks and you find there everything you want. First, on Collins Avenue with lots of stores : Urban Outfitters, Aldo, the KidRobot store, Sephora (with products that doesn’t exist in France like Opi by Sephora nail polish) and much more … Lincoln Road also has lots of stores : the famous BEBE, Anthropologie, FCUK, the Apple store (to have a free WIFI connection … and Iphone and Macbook accessories so much cheaper than in France), Victoria’s secret, Christian Audigier, Steve Madden , Base (the local Colette), Ed Hardy , Alchemist and lots of small and nice stores whose name I can’t remenber …
Mais pour satisfaire pleinement votre soif de shopping, il y a les malls, ces grandes étendues climatisées aussi appelées Centres commerciaux en France … Et bien comme les place de parking, ici elles font le triple de taille … Mes 2 favoris : Le Dolphin Mall et le Adventura mall ( ça sonne comme des noms de parc d’attraction n’est ce pas?) Impossible de vous dresser une liste des magasins présents, elle serait sans fin, le mieux c’est encore d’aller jeter un œil sur leur site… Et puis il y a aussi le Bal Harbour shop, pour assouvir vos envies de Dior, Chanel, Lanvin … ou tout simplement pour lécher les vitrines et faire joujou avec les tortues des bassins du centre commercial …
But if you crave for shopping, there are malls, that kind of big air-conditioned complex that are called Shopping Center in France … But just like the car park places, they are 3 times bigger … my two favourites ones : the Dolphin Mall and the Adventura Mall (sounds like amusement park, isn’ it ?. It’s impossible to give an exhaustive list of all the stores, it would be endless, you’d better have a look at their respective web sites .. There is also the Bal Harbour shop to satisfy your craving for Dior, Chanel or Lanvin ... or just to go window-shopping or play with the turtles in the pond of the mall.
Maintenant, where to eaat ? :) … Burger King fait un excellent Veggie Burger, Mc do fait des salades Cesar aussi grosses qu’un saladier pour 1,5 misérable dollar, les apple pie y sont toujours aussi bons … Quand vous demandez un « Large Coke » comprendre » Un seau de coca cola s’il vous plait », Dunkin donuts … d’OH !! Starbucks, What else ?… Et pour la premiere fois de ma vie j’ai mangé de vrais sushis végétariens ( En france ça ne court pas les rues) soupes miso et tempura excellent chez Toni’s sushi sur Washington avenue… Sinon, pléthore de restau sur Lincoln road, et bien sur sur le fameux Ocean drive ( Ohwohoohoo) … Non vraiment il y a de quoi faire …
And now, where to eat : :) … Burger King makes delicious veggie burger, McDonald’s sells Cesar salad, bowlful portion for just $ 1,50 and the apple pies are always so tasty … When you ask for a « large coke », that means « May I have a pailful of Coca-Cola, please », Dunkin Donuts … d’OH !!, Starbucks, what else ? … And, for the first time in my life, I ate real vegetarian sushis (in France, it isn’t that easy to find), delicious miso soups and tempura by Toni’s Sushi on Washington Avenue. Otherwise, there are numerous restaurants on Lincoln Road and of course, on the famous Ocean Drive … yes, really, there’s a lot to do …
Et sinon quoi faire à part manger et faire du shopping ? la plage, la piscine ( Celles de l’Hotel Fontainebleau ) Visiter le metro Zoo, partir loiiin dans les Keys ( La partie la plus au sud des états unis avec les plus belles plages ), visiter Little Havana et tenter de rencontrer PittBull, visiter Miami Downtown et tenter de rencontrer Horatio , visite les everglades et tenter de rencontrer 2/3 alligators …
Voilà je crois que mon petit résumé s’arrête là, a très vite pour mes trouvailles : de la plume, des bottes, du bleu … entre autres … Bisous
Aside from eating and shopping, what can we do . going to the beach; the pool (the one of the Fontainebleau Hotel), going to the Metro Zoo, travelling in the Keys (it’s the most southern place in the USA with the most beautiful beaches), visiting Little Havana and trying to meet PittBull, visiting Miami Downtown trying to meet Horatio, visiting the Everglades trying to meet 2 or 3 alligators …
